General Membership is your best way to utilize our resources and find out what we’re all about. We organize biweekly Thursday meetings that include educational presentations and opportunities to meet industry professionals. In addition, members have the opportunity to access exclusive (not on the website) resources such as real estate interview guides, books, and recordings of previous events. Practical skills are so important and the best way to learn is with others. Throughout the semester, we have workshops on ARGUS, Excel, interviews, and more. Members will have the opportunity to build financial models from ground up with hands-on guidance from Officers, and get to join of our three committees for tailored learning. The Undergraduate Real Estate Club aims to introduce students new to the industry in an interactive fashion. This is the first step to joining our community: become a member.
Architecture and Development Committee
The Architecture and Development Committee is for those interested in exploring the design and development of urban land—peering into such issues and trends as gentrification, the housing crisis, transit-oriented development, demographic change, and sustainable development. It seek to give its members a true understanding of the development process—through property tours, panels with urban land experts, and tutorials on development pro formas. Through a curated and balanced set of events encompassing the greatest range of urban land professionals, the Architecture and Development Committee promises a fun and formative experience for its members.
Commercial Real Estate brokerage is one of the best career pathways to gain exposure within the real estate industry. The brokerage team will help all committee members obtain vital knowledge that goes beyond basic financial modeling concepts, we will look at past institutional deals, broker and developer pro formas’ as well as the legality of how large equity deals are structured. Members will have the opportunity to meet top industry producers within the brokerage world. In addition, committee members will also have the opportunity to access exclusive (not on the website) resources such as brokerage interview guides, books, and excel case studies. Throughout the semester, we will hold several guest speaker events, along with financial modeling workshops. Members will have the opportunity to network and gain valuable career advice from top producers. The UREC brokerage membership aims to introduce students to the world of real estate brokerage by teaching both the hard and soft skillsets required to succeed in commercial real estate.
The UREC Finance Committee serves as Berkeley’s top student-led resource for undergraduates looking to learn more about this exciting field. Throughout each semester, members will gain exclusive access to workshops & panels with professionals from all walks of the industry. Committee members will also receive industry-relevant materials and past resources from UREC such as guides & interview tips, previous workshop materials, and a large database of alumni. Students are encouraged to utilize events as both a learning and networking experience. Financial modeling, essential industry knowledge and any questions you might have will all be covered by working professionals. The committee also serves as a great place to make friends with other students who share an interest in real estate. Previous alumni and panel members have worked for firms such as PGIM, Morgan Stanley, Blackstone, and many more.
UREC is sending three teams to participate in the Colvin Case Study Challenge at University of Maryland this fall. The club is collaborating with the Fisher Center to bring larger real estate case competitions to its members too. Through case competitions, we hope to bring prestige to the university through extensively preparation and training for our teams and staff, and give real world experience to club members to improve their prospects of breaking into the industry. The executive team is working earnestly towards spring semester activities to increase the club’s presence in this area.
