About the Course
This course will offer students the opportunity to explore real estate investing through a number of academic and professional lenses. Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of real property and the fundamental principles of real estate investments. Sub-industries within real estate investment will be covered, including banking, private equity, REITs, joint venture development, and corporate real estate entities.
Readings will include book chapters, industry reports, news articles, and current academic research.
Lectures will review the required readings and ample time will be allotted to discussion.
Presentations by practitioners also will be included. Students will engage with topics through a combination of group and individual work assignments, quizzes, and case studies that allow the students to apply what they have learned. The course will feature a final group case-study. Students will develop the quantitative and qualitative skills necessary to analyze investment projects and make intelligent decisions about them.

Enrollment
Enrollment is dependent on an application in which prospective students will either be accepted or placed on a waitlist.
Attendance is mandatory for the first two classes, and students may be dropped if either class is missed. It is highly recommended that waitlisted students attend the first two weeks of class.
